Poplar — Financial Management//
Poplar is a financial management application aimed at young adults. It helps build better savings habits, and makes intimidating payments more approachable and easily manageable!
Poplar started as an in-class project to refine user-research skills and understand how to extract user needs on a deeper level. My team and I were passionate about the project direction and decided to continue to build Poplar out into a a more fully thought-out idea. The majority of this project was explored outside of class time, taking the skills I learned in the classroom and applying them to an opportunity space we arrived at.
Poplar utilizes mental models that users are already familiar with to create a seamless and self-explanatory onboarding experience.
Users are presented with all their transactions on screen. They can swipe left to the “piggy bank” panel to round up the change from their purchases and save them. Users may also swipe to the right to round their purchases up and move the difference to their “payments” panel, using that money towards paying for goals.
Poplar went through a lot of research and user testing to get to the interface features presented here today. Feel free to reach out to learn more about what this process was like!
